This is the 2nd book in a series called The Witcher.

His biggest problem is making sure it is for good, rather than bad, but even he has doubts about how he can deal with all of what is happening in the world.

The world they live in is torn apart, and it needs Ciri to step forward to fix it, but that means risking that she will instead destroy it.
