Many of you have probably seen the movie The Golden Compass, and this series is what the films were based on. Lyra is an orphan, who is raised in an Oxford college and has a pretty good and trouble-free life with her daemon . That is until her uncle arrives to plan an expedition to discover the truth about ‘Dust’ and a gateway into another world, and things start to go wrong. Children have started to disappear, and Lyra soon realises that the mysterious Mrs. Coulter may have something to do with it. But what does this woman want with Lyra, and how can she save the best friend that has gone missing?

“It is only in adventure that some people succeed in knowing themselves – in finding themselves.” Andre Gide.
