This is the first book in a series called Bitter Sixteen.
On the surface Stanly is just another teenager, but he’s really a superhero, with a talking dog for his best friend. But his sleepy little town in Wales doesn’t really need a superhero, so he moves to London, knowing for sure that his services will be much needed there. Only what he finds is way more than he bargined for, and he soon wishes that he’d stayed in Wales.
Stanly is a character I liked straight away, and his dog Daryl is simply the kind of dog that anyone would want as a pet (though I probably wouldn’t tell Daryl he’s a ‘pet’). It is a really well written book, with plenty of humour, and a lot of danger. It got me hooked straight away, and I can’t wait to read book two.
The next book in the series is called Ace of Spiders.
