I have some news that I would like to share with you all.
Firstly, I have finally built a chat room. You can find it at http://thestralsbooks.chatovod.com/ You don’t need to register, and I suggest you use your Pottermore usernames or nicknames when using it. There are two BIG rules for anyone who uses it; firstly, NO giving out personal information to anyone. Second, NO bad language or inappropriate conversations. I will ban anyone who breaks these rules.
The next bit of news is that I have received a response from the letter I sent to Pottermore. They have sent me an email which says:
“Thank you for your recent email and letter.
We hope this email finds you well. We’re sorry to hear you were unhappy with the recent changes to Pottermore. We’d like to assure you that these changes were not taken to damage the community; on the contrary, they are to ensure that pottermore.com continues to be a safe and secure environment for all our users.
As you may or may not be aware, the commenting areas on the website were misused by some users, particularly those who chose to participate in role-playing within the magical world of Harry Potter. We think that this was not fair on the users who wanted to use pottermore.com to discover and enjoy exclusive writing by J.K. Rowling and experience the story in a new way. As ‘chatting’ was not an official feature on pottermore.com, we eventually took this difficult decision to put the experience of the majority of our users first. However, please don’t forget that your friends on pottermore.com are still there and so are the games and gifts, so feel free to invite them for a challenge or share a gift or two!
We know that there will be a period of adjustment for our community, but take heart, we can promise you that there are better times ahead. We can’t tell you too much right now, but we are working very hard to create a better and more magical experience for our users.
We really hope this helps,
The Pottermore team”
This doesn’t really say anything new from what they have already said, but I am going to respond to the email asking again that they reinstate the chat, as I don’t see how the changes make the site safer.
Also, the letter I have sent to JK Rowling has been returned saying that she is no longer available at that address (the Bloomsbury address that I provided in the last Pottermore Update Post. So I have found a different address, and I am going to resend the letter ad hope for better luck. The new address I have found is:
44-46, Morningside Road
Also, I have joined a google plus group called Pottermore Friends Again. All are welcome to join, so please come along.
Finally, don’t forget to sign the following petitions asking Pottermore to bring back our Common Rooms and Great Hall.
