As you all will know, the first book JK Rowling wrote after Happy Potter was called The Casual Vacancy, and this Sunday will see the first episode of a 3 part mini-series shown on TV.
The first hour long episode will be shown on BBC1 at 9pm (UK time) on Sunday 15th February 2015. As it’s on after the 9pm Watershed (this is what we call it in the UK, it means that before this time you can’t show certain things on TV), it means that it’s not for younger viewers. But if you’ve read the book you already know it has a more mature content than Harry Potter, and it’s not a fantasy, so don’t expect it to be anything like that. This is a good thing, as it shows that JK Rowling is a very talented writer who is capable of much more than just one genre.
I know that not all of you are able to get BBC1 in your country, but I know some of you can, and the BBC usually puts programs like this onto DVD, so those of you who can’t watch it on TV should be able to buy it on DVD (Just make sure it’s the right region DVD for you before you buy it).
“Poverty entails fear and stress and sometimes depression. It meets a thousand petty humiliations and hardships. Climbing out of poverty by your own efforts that is something on which to pride yourself but poverty itself is romanticized by fools.” JK Rowling.
