The Book of Deacon by Joseph Lallo (*8 years and over)

Title: The Book of Deacon.

Author: Joseph Lallo.

Year of Publication: 2012 (UK).

Publisher: Create Space (UK).

Format: Available in paperback, an ebook, and an audiobook.

Cost for Paperback (RRP): £5.70 (UK).

Age Range: I suggest from about 8 up, if you’re younger than this I suggest asking your parents first.

This book is the first book in a series called The Book of Deacon.

Myranda is an orphan and an outcast, living in the midst of a war that has raged for seems like forever. Her life is simply about surviving, until she finds a solider buried in the snow with a mysterious object.

Where this object leads her is an amazing adventure, deep into a hidden world of magic, where she must learn quickly in order to go out and play her part in saving the world.

This book gives a really good foundation for the rest of the series, and has some great characters to keep us entertained. The only problem I have is that the ebook isn’t formatted very well, so with no chapters it’s kind of hard to keep track of where you are. But please don’t let that put you off, as it’s well worth putting up with that because it’s such a good story.

The second book in the series is called The Great Convergence.

“So many books, so little time.” Frank Zappa.
