This book is the second book in a series called The Maze Runner.
Having escaped from the maze, ‘The Gladers’ now face a new challenge when they realise that the maze was just the beginning of their ordeal. The story continues with a LOT of twists and turns, leaving Thomas unable to know who to trust and what is real.
The group is told that they might hold the key to saving humanity, and must trek to a safe haven; only the journey will be anything but safe, and they have no way of knowing if their destination will truly be what is promised. Yet with little choice but to go forward, they head out, but will all of them make it?
This is a really good story, but quite dark. Like The Hunger Games and Harry Potter, I think things will get a lot worse before they get any better for the characters we follow.
The next book in the series is called The Death Cure.
“Never forget what you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armour yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you.” Tyrion Lannister, A Game of Thrones.
